Sacraments of Healing
The sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation is the sacrament by which the faithful receive forgiveness of sins committed after Baptism and are reconciled with God and the Church.
The sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation is called the sacrament of Conversion, Confession, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation. Through this sacrament, those who commit sins after Baptism receive the forgiveness of God and are reconciled with the Church. It is the movement of a contrite heart drawn by divine grace to respond to the merciful love of God.

- The essential elements are two: the acts of the penitent and the absolution of the priest.
- The acts of the penitent are: examination of conscience, contrition, confession of sins, and satisfaction (penance).
- All grave sins not yet confessed must be brought to the sacrament of Penance.
- Each of the faithful who has reached the age of discretion is bound to confess mortal sins at least once a year.
- The confessor is bound to absolute secrecy about sins revealed in confession (the sacramental seal).
